Data - Cell towers

Cell tower information can be extracted from devices to show which cell towers the subject phone was connected to.

Android devices

It is necessary to install the "Cell towers" package, which can be downloaded and installed automatically via live updates or, downloaded from the User portal and imported into MOBILedit Forensic.

The package includes a database from the OpenCelliD project.

iOS devices

You do not need to install the “Cell towers” package for iOS devices, as MOBILedit Forensic extracts the data to populate the “Cell tower” analysis module from a different database in the device.

iOS devices record the geolocation when making or receiving a call.

Cell tower locations can be individually viewed on a map through the link provided in the report.

Cell tower data cannot be extracted on some phone brands running Android 8 and above.
